Southern Peaks MTB Festival is an established annual event that truly showcases the natural beauty, recreational tourism opportunities and community capacity to deliver regional events of this scale. The events attract riders and spectators to Albany for a weekend of competition and entertainment.

As well as being an important economic driver for local business, the festival is just as important to the local community, inspiring people to become involved in mountain biking and sustainable outdoor activities. Since the Festival’s inception in 2014, the Albany MTB Club has seen a growth in membership providing an exciting and healthy alternative to traditional forms of exercise. The success of previous events has provided such a positive showcase in mountain biking in the region that it has put Albany on the map, and recently enabled the City of Albany, in collaboration with the Albany Mountain Bike Club to deliver one of the biggest bike pump, jump and skate parks in Australia, now known as Youth Challenge Park.

Southern Peaks 2023 comprises of 3 spectacular events over 2 days, drawing locals and visitors to the heart of Albany and supporting local business. Southern Peaks is a community run and owned event. Southern Peaks delivers challenges, thrills and fun for participants and spectators - while showcasing Albany's spectacular urban and country scenery.

WA State Pump Track Championships will be the largest pump track event in WA in 2023. There will be free 'have a go' sessions before the state participants race. This is the inaugural State Pump Track Championships and Albany is super excited to be hosting it. It is hoped to encourage many local young riders to enter this event as well as the many anticipated travelling competitors to showcase the region and benefit the local economy.

Jump Fest: Guest riders will be invited to engage with local schools via workshops and demonstrations to inspire young riders and showcase the benefits riding can bring to health and well being, including mental and physical health. Guest riders will be able to showcase their epic skills on the recently completely jump line under lights! This event continues to provide a showpiece with great spectator numbers. The Jump Comp is the only regional freestyle mountain bike and BMX event of it's kind and attracts high profile riders as the event grows.

Southern Peaks XCM (Cross Country Marathon) - a point to point mass participation cross country race that runs along the rugged southern coast. Providing unmatched coastal outlooks and otherwise inaccessible private and wilderness trails, the event has two distances on offer and appeals to all levels of experiences and fitness. This inclusive approach has seen a rise in participants and is encouraging young and new riders. It is also a channel to engage with schools.

This is a truly unique event on a national scale, one of only a few mountain bike festivals that offer such a variety in events. This is a community event that has continued to grow annually in terms of participation and community support. A number of factors make this a truly outstanding event for Albany.
