XC Course Change

The Albany Mountain Bike Club is thrilled to announce exciting updates to the cross-country (XC) race as part of the Southern Peaks mountain bike event on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Due to a number of unforeseen circumstances, the XC mountain bike course has been modified, offering participants a thrilling new route across the scenic mounts of Albany.

New XC Course Details: The revamped XC course promises an exhilarating experience for riders of all ability and fitness. This year, participants can challenge themselves with the choice of two distances.

37km XC race: For riders seeking a longer and more demanding adventure, the cross country course will take them on a breathtaking journey from Emu Point, along the water’s edge of Middleton Beach, up and over Mt Adelaide and Mt Clarence, racing through the centre of Albany to the challenges of Mt Melville, showcasing the region’s natural beauty and providing a true test of endurance.

17km XC race: Ideal for those looking for a slightly shorter yet equally thrilling ride, the 17km course offers a taste of the XC experience while still providing opportunities to explore the magnificent landscapes surrounding Albany. A course for all ages and abilities, starting at Emu Point, and following our coast over Mt Clarence to finish in town.

Start and Finish Locations: The XC races will kick off at the picturesque Emu Point, offering riders a scenic start as they embark on their journey up and over the mounts. The course will wind its way through Albany’s stunning natural terrain, showcasing the region’s unique views and natural beauty.

The XC race will conclude with a triumphant finish at Albany Senior High School oval, where riders will be greeted by the cheers of supporters and fellow participants. It promises to be a memorable finish line celebration for all.
